Circular Marker Mode
Where should circular marker tracking typically be used?
Circular marker tracking is well suited to inside locations, where the Ncam system is likely to be used repeatedly. It's also typically the best method of tracking to ensure a very minimal amount of operator involvement
Some typical usage examples are:
- Broadcast studios
- LED wall installations
- "Set and Forget" installations
When should I consider Natural marker tracking instead?
By definition, reflective marker tracking requires the use of pre placed markers in the environment. Some use cases are simply not practical to do this in. Film sets and outside locations typically do not lend themselves to circular marker tracking. However there is no technical reason why it can not be achieved, it's typically more of a practicality issue
Before using circular marker tracking, we must apply a sufficient amount of markers to the environment. It is advised to use the "Setup Environment" wizard as part of the WebUI to do this. The environment wizard can be found on the "Actions" tab
When adding markers to the environment there are a couple of key factors to bear in mind:
- Make sure the markers are large enough - The marker wizard estimates the required diameter of the marker based off the distance of the camera to the marker
- Make sure the markers are flat - Avoid applying the markers to curved surfaces, it's important that the markers are adhered to a flat surface
- Don't place markers too close together - Applying a large amount of markers in a tight grouping can cause the markers to blend into each other when viewed through the camera bar
