Camera Bar Calibration

6min

Introduction

Ncam Reality offers a simple process to refine or redo the camera bar calibration. However we do not recommend adjusting the camera bar calibration unless advised and it should not be part of the expected usage of the system.

We now have two distinct camera bar modes:

  1. Pre-Processed - This is the default and recommended mode of the camera bar and utilizes the original factory calibration of the camera bar
  2. Raw - This is the Calibration mode of the camera bar, it allows for the use of the traditional Ncam Reality camera bar calibration tools. It is intended for expert uses who wish to alter the calibration of the bar. Changes to the calibration of the bar in this mode will alter the pre-processed mode also

The calibration mode is chosen inside the preferences window of the Full UI

Where are these values stored

All calibration is now stored on the camera bar itself, this has the benefit of allowing the swapping of camera bars between different systems easily. Previously, camera bar calibration was stored on the server or connection box and required the manual copying of files across devices.

We recommend restarting Ncam Reality after swapping a camera bar, this is to ensure the correct calibration is being used

Should I need to do these calibrations?

Typically no.

We strongly recommend the use of the "Pre-Processed" calibration option.

If, for whatever reason, it is decided to not use the processed calibration option, then the "Raw" option can be selected in the Ncam Reality Preferences, this will allow the use of the Ncam reality calibration tools which are covered in the 2021 documentation, alternatively contact [email protected] who will be able to assist with camera bar calibration
