Converting Lens Distortion Models
Ncam has the ability to choose between a number of different models for defining the characteristics of a lens prior to conducting the lens calibration. While Ncam is largely agnostic to the distortion model that is used, certain 3rd party renderers require the lens information to use a specific model when sending tracking information.
As an ease of use feature Ncam Reality allows the user to change the distortion model of an already calibrated lens
The process of converting distortion models has changed in Reality 2023. These instructions are only relevant to the 2023 version of Ncam Reality
This process can only be conducted by using the Full UI.
Begin by selecting the calibration that you wish to change the distortion type of from the dropdown menu of the calibration panel
With the correct calibration selected, press the "edit calibration" button
In the calibration panel choose the required distortion model from the dropdown menu
When converting from an "XD Lens Model" then uncheck the "XD Lens" checkbox, otherwise it is not possible to change the distortion model
Acknowledge the resulting pop up window and then save the change by selecting "ok"
