Overview

Ncam Reality supports the acquisition of lens data via the Teradek RT lens control system

Compatibility

Teradek RT MDR.X is supported for use with Ncam-Reality. This requires the Teradek RT Firmware 1.2.5 Hardware-wise, our Ncam servers Mk2 and Conbox Mk2 are all compatible using the UART port. Software-wise, initial support on Ncam-Reality begins with version 2021.2.

Connections

Plug the Teradek RT MDR.X to power using the included Teradek power supply. Please beware that we do not support any other means of providing power to the device. Plug the Ncam provided Teradek serial cable from IN-1 on the Teradek to the UART port on the Ncam Mk2 server or connection box

Connect each motor to one of the 3 motor ports on the Teradek RT MDR. Ensure the FIZ setting on each of the Teradek RT motors is correct with no duplicates.

Setting up the system for use with Ncam:

For lens data to be correctly received by Ncam, it is required to have "Feedback" enabled on the Teradek MDR device, this is activated using the following menu path:

Menu: Motors -> Rx Config -> IN1 Mode -> FEEDBACK

In Ncam-Reality make your way to Preferences/Camera Bar/Lens Encoders/Type and select Teradek RT - UART.

Your Teradek system is now ready for use with Ncam.

Troubleshooting:

  • If you cannot find the FEEDBACK entry on the Teradek RT MDR, please double check your Teradek firmware for compatibility
  • If you cannot find the Teradek RT entry in Ncam-Reality's preferences, please double check your Ncam-Reality version for compatibility (2021.2 +).
