5.1 Changes
With the release of Unreal 5.1, a number of changes were made to the Media Framework plugin provided by Epic. These updates have slightly changed the steps required when setting up a project using the Ncam workflow wizard.
The changes between 5.0 and 5.1 are described here
The workflow wizard is largely the same as in previous versions, the "timecode format" has been removed however
The updates made to 5.1 require the manual setting of:
- Framerate
- Timecode format
- Video input device
After creating a media profile using the wizard, it is important that all of these settings are manually checked/updated in the created profile
The images below show the input, output, timecode and genlock settings that need manually setting
It is very important that the correct settings are used throughout the profile, otherwise issues with video I/O and synchronization will occur
"Auto" with Blackmagic devices
In our testing we have found the Auto option inside the media profile fails to work correctly when using Blackmagic video devices, we recommend manually setting the correct settings instead
Although not directly related to the Ncam Unreal plugin, Epic have added a "lens" component to cine cameras that are required to distort them. Previously this was all done inside the Live Link Controller.
When working with Cine Cameras in composure, make sure to add a Lens component alongside the live link controller, and ensure it is configured to receive lens data from a livelink source
