Mk2 External Encoders
The included parts within the Ncam Mk2 External Encoders kit consist of 0.5, 0.6 & 0.8 pitch gears which can be removed and replaced using the supplied screw driver.
Also included are 15mm & 19mm Encoder mount arms for use with mounting rods.
For Broadcast lenses the mount already attached to the encoders can be screwed directly onto the lens barrel. Example images can be found below.
Any lens that you wish to use with external encoders must have a physical stop at each end of the movement of the lens barrel. Most DSLR lenses for example have a focus barrel that can spin continuously
The lens must have 0.5, 0.6 or 0.8 pitch gearing on the barrel for the external encoders to correctly connect with the lens
The Mk2 external encoders are only compatible with the Mk2 platform
- Mount the external encoders onto the lens using either the supplied lens mount or rod clamps.
- If using both encoders, daisy chain the two together and connect the available cable to the UART port of either the Mk2 server or connection box depending on your setup. If only using one encoder, simply connect this directly to the Mk2 server or connection box
- Inside the Preferences window of the Full UI, select the "Ncam Mk 2 Ext. Lens encoder" option from the type dropdown menu
External encoders must be homed when using them with the system, this process is described in the lens homing section
